Thunder Bay Counselling continues to grow and expand to meet the needs of our community. We are currently looking to fill several full-time permanent and full-time contract positions.

Counsellors utilize a variety of therapeutic interventions based on evidence informed and promising practice using a trauma informed, client-centred, solution-focused framework. Our programs work with a diversity of people to assist with a variety of issues impacting quality of life.

Counsellor/Psychotherapist

  • $71,062 to $84,399
  • Masters Level Degree
  • Full-time Permanent

Counsellors/Psychotherapists provide counselling
and psychotherapy for people of all ages to address
issues such as:

  • Trauma
  • Intimate Partner and Gender Based Violence
  • Sexual Abuse/Assault
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Stress
  • Emotional regulation
  • Relationship conflict

Youth Outreach Counsellor

  • $60,817 to $72,231
  • Bachelor Level Degree
  • Full-time Permanent

Youth Outreach Counsellors provide short-term counselling support for youth ages 12 to 25 and their families, serving as a clinical “bridge” for issues related to:

  • Substance use health
  • Mental health
  • Trauma
  • Relationship violence
  • Human/sex trafficking
  • Criminal activity
  • Personal and/or family relationships

Addiction Counsellor

  • $60,817 to $72,231
  • Bachelor Level Degree
  • Full-time contract (18 month contract)

Addiction Counsellors provide assessments and outpatient treatment for people of all ages who have concerns with their substance use health using a harm reduction approach. Services include:

  • Assessment
  • Pre-treatment stabilization
  • Counselling/psychotherapy
  • Case management support

Qualifications

  • Degree in social work or related field, appropriate to position
  • Membership with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers or the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario
  • Experience providing counselling utilizing therapeutic interventions recognized in Ontario
  • Solid clinical framework with knowledge in a variety of therapeutic interventions
  • Strong assessment and treatment planning skills

The following will be considered an asset:

  • Certified to provide CBT, DBT and/or EMDR therapies
  • Ability to provide culturally based interventions
  • Bilingual (English/French)
